The ancient Egyptians knew neither cruelty nor violence, and this does not preclude the existence of these traits among them, for every society is good and bad !!
But the legacy that the ancient Egyptians left for us, but indicates that mercy and compassion were rooted in their society... Rather, their mercy has reached even the animal .. And here is the view before us indicating beyond a reasonable doubt the extent of mercy and compassion that characterized them.
Here are two men who are forcibly feeding (hyena) for fear of his life after he refrained from eating for a while !!
The ancient Egyptians used to use hyenas as "pets" which they raised in their homes, and the hyenas excelled at that time by playing the role of "hunting dogs". The owners used to fatten it and then slaughter it and present it as a delicious feast on the holidays, and the hyenas remained thus treated like animals (domestic pets) for a period of time until the Egyptians decided to leave them for their predatory character !!
This view is found in the tomb of Minister (Merioca) in Saqqara, in the era of the Old Kingdom - during the period of the Sixth Dynasty (2345-2181 BC)
