EXCLUSIVE The oldest scientific research on kidney disease

Until very recently, barely a year later, it was believed that ancient Egypt’s physicians had no idea or scientific knowledge of the kidneys and their diseases and that this was a convincing explanation for leaving them behind the peritoneal dinner for their inability to extract them, during mummification.

But a global team of researchers is now studying and translating a huge group of papyri that have found another different and amazing story.

A group of more than a thousand papyrus had been obtained by the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, since the thirties of the twentieth century without translation or study until it appeared a large project for translation, by a team of researchers and doctoral students, and among the papyri found one containing the oldest scientific discussion in diseases Kidney, which excited them the most.

The leaders of the research team say that this restores the view of the science and its foundations, as some papyri offer discussions in astronomy, medicine, ophthalmology, gynaecology and childbirth, but the most astounding is finding the oldest research dealing with kidney disease

"This science was transferred from Egypt to the Greeks, Romans and Arabs, and we find it in Europe in the Renaissance, and this reveals to us the foundations of science in human civilization." Researchers are now working on translating papyrus, the researchers say.
