The ankh or the key to life .

The ankh or the key to life is an ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol that was used in writing and art to represent the word "life" and, therefore, is considered as a symbol of life itself.  It was continued to be used by the Coptic Egyptians who adapted it as a crucx ansata cross, a version of the Christian cross with a circular ring similar to the Ankh ring.
