The Sphinx of King Amenemhat the Third at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. It was found in the Temple of Tal Basta, Tanis.
He is considered one of the greatest rulers of the Twelfth Dynasty and has ruled for more than 46 years. He participated in the ruling with his father, Senusret III, for a period of 20 years before he rose to power.
He built his first pyramid in Dahshur, which is known as the Black Pyramid, but due to problems in finishing its construction, he decided in the 15th year of his rule to build another pyramid in Hawara in Fayoum. Attachments to him have a funerary temple that has complex design characteristics. The Dahshur pyramid was used as a burial ground for many royal women.
